About Bruce Claypool

Bruce was born in Los Angeles, California, USA. and grew up in and around the Venice area of LA. During his college years He attended and Graduated from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena Ca. in 1976. Following school his first design job was with Robert Miles Runyon and Associates. Working as an Art Director for approximately two years. After which he decided to go back to school to pursue his academic and fine art interest.  In 1979 he attended California State University at Long Beach in their master’s degree program. His interests were illustration and painting. During this period he also worked as a freelance graphic designer to help support his schooling. His academic pursuit was interrupted in 1981 with a full time job offer as Art Director/Graphic Designer for the National Football League. In 1983 he left NFL to accept a faculty position at Art Center College. Teaching he found to be the most rewarding and gratifying profession to that date. In 1989 Bruce build a painting studio where he spent the next few years painting and selling and showing in the Los Angeles gallery area. In 1991 he returned to his love for teaching at Art Center. He has been employed as full time faculty professor since. Presently most of his non-teaching hours are directed to personal interest that affects the way he sees the world through his evolving painting approach.
